Vim as an IDE

I finally took the time to setup Vim as an IDE on my workstations. I want this to just serve as a reference for those who are curious if they installed everything correctly. This is what my system looks like for me after each step.

Install Instructions

Move your ~/.vimrc file and ~/.vim folder somewhere else for now.

Run this command to install Vundle:

This installs Vundle.vim to the subdirectory of your ~/.vim folder. I’ll be using Vundle in upcoming steps to add plugins to make Vim into an IDE.

Download the file vimrc.vim and rename it to ~/.vimrc

Run the following command to install the plugins for Vundle and to quit when finished:
